I’ve just finished the first fase of a redesign for a dutch weblog. I’m pretty pleased with it. Now lets see how long it takes for it to fall apart web standards wise.
One of the things to keep an eye on with this type of site is the bannering. Sometimes you make an effort to keep the design clean knowing full well that the site will fall apart as soon it actually does contain a banner. By making the design strong with the use of colour but also calm by keeping it simple and the typography clean will allow the site to contain ‘noise’ in de form of banners.
Creating templates is fun right up to the point you realise others are going to be adding ther own HTML in postings. Not to mention someone getting their favorite nephew to do a bit of a DIY job by adding bits & bobs here and there. Best not to think about too much. The site is done, say your goodbyes, now lets move on.
