Bloggin' the web, one post at a time

Google and the attack of the killer codec.

Google is dropping H.264 in favour of WebM. Google can do whatever it likes, it’s their product. Open this, open that, for the moment it’s irrelevant because whatever Google does H.264 is still the only practical choice to deploy video on the web.

i liked it more when the debate was about how webm compares to h.264 in terms of image and sound quality. Which mostly it does not. So not only is h.264 the most practical, it is also the better quality. Also, i can't export to webm from premiere easily so the point is moot anyway.
