Searching for validation

I’ve just implemented Safari’s new search input type after reading 37signals blog article “Searchin’ Safari’ which mentions Bartelme’s implementation. This is of course proprietary code from Apple and in no way does it validate, however, it does degrade well. Have I lost all my marbles and stepped over to the dark side of web development?

' bug is not a bug

This one has been around for yonks, but only recently have I run in to it. ' is a XML entity and isnt an HTML entity. Charles Miller post holds the top spot on google for this topic. Long live ‘’’ and ‘‘’, of course using ‘'’ actually is the only real solution for this single quote issue.

Using keywords and or metadata is becoming al the rage these days. Like it was something new. Sites like del.icio.us en flickr where the users add the tag themselves is proving that the collective information they provide can produce extremely effective navigation solutions.

Apple, the love and joy of graphic designers around the world. Right up until they find out they’ve been shafted all these years. Realising the fact that the new xbox 360 is a variation of a PowerPC and that it will be more than twice as fast as the fastest Mac at a fraction of the cost. Especially that last bit will sting.

Search: the new menu

Apple’s new OS X (Tiger) has finally been introduced. With Spotlight decidedly in the, well, spotlight. It been suggested that our computing lives will never be the same again. If that’s true, which I very much doubt, websites will also be affected. Clicking though a maze of folders is a thing of the past.
